ParaView/Parafoam error when making animation
 
Hi all, i've been looking around for this, but have not found much. Also i am in a bit of a hurry to fix this.

Anyways, i was trying to make save an animation on paraview. However it crashes all the time, because of too many errors.

Do i have to recompile parafoam? Is there any solution out there? Please help.

Additional info: im on ubuntu 9.10, i have an intel gma graphic card (which i think is not working properly). Anything else, feel free to ask.

Greetings Disco_Caine,

Try following these instructions to get a working ParaView 3.8.0 with the internal foam reader (available since 3.8.0), instead of using OpenFOAM's original version: Using the official pre-built ParaView 3.8.0 version with OpenFOAM...

edit: additionally, your error output indicates that addr2line is missing. Did you install the binutils-dev package in Ubuntu?

Hi, i don't know about that installed package, i will check.

In the meantime, im running openfoam 1.6.x, does that matter when installing the new paraview? Ill try both and keep you posted.

I believe that the internal reader should be able to handle OpenFOAM cases back to OpenFOAM 1.5, but I'm not 100% certain about it.

Hi, ive been trying to install paraview3.8.0 but it didnt work. Like i did all the steps, however, once i had finished downloading paraview3.8.0 it was still in the thirdparty1.6.x paraview3.6.2 folder.

So i decided to start again, however now, mkdir -p $ParaView_DIR

Throws back a missing operand error.

I think i shot myself in the foot.

Hi Disco_Caine,

OK, apparently I've been a bit slow lately... Since you want to use both OpenFOAM 1.6 and 1.6.x and are using Ubuntu, you can try this script for installing 1.6.x in Ubuntu: http://code.google.com/p/openfoam-ubuntu/
It's filled with options, so I hope you won't feel lost in it's execution.

After that, using OpenFOAM 1.6 along with 1.6.x it is as easy as pie :)
