Hi all,
I've been doing different types of calculations for cars and sails using simpleFoam. When postprocessing the data I saw that for single surfaces (e.g. a sail) the pressure on both sides of the surface is visualized; see attachment. The figure shows pressure-dots from the visual side but also from the side of the surface that's not visible. I tried to filter the data (for paraview 3.8.1) by "generate surface normals" and then multiply this result with the pressure. This doesn't yield the desired effect. How can I visualize the pressure on one side of the sail without getting the results from the non visible side? Thanks for your help! Ralph

Two things come to mind.
-First, if the two sides of a sail or thin surface are broken apart to different patches, you can hide one side and not the other. -Second, use the calculator filter and stretch the geometry using "Coordinate Results" and the coordsX, coordsY, coordsZ, iHat, jHat, and kHat. If you make the geometry bigger (stretch it) the surfaces might be far enough away to visually see it. Joshua |

I fund an easy way. In paraview, on Display/Backface Style/Representation: change "Follow front face" in "Cull Backface". |
