Glyph: how to avoid the plot of vectors perpendicular to boundaries?

Dear all,

In paraview if I select glyph scaling off and the velocity magnitude is 0, the glyphs are orientated in the x-direction (as in the picture enclosed) [look like they are getting through the boundary wall]
is there a way to make those horizontal glyphs disappear?

Did you add boundary patches along with your internal mesh, maybe try only internal mesh.

Ah Ok, we can do this way:
(from pag166 user-guide) first apply the Cell Centers filter to the case module (Filters -> Alphabetical -> Cell Centers), and
then apply the Glyph filter to the resulting cell centre data.

In this way we plot the vector in the center of the cell, whose magnitude is not zero, so the orientation is not horizontal anymore.

I have the same issue post-processing CFX results converted to EnSight Gold (ASCII) with Ansys Solver Manager. Now I use the following solution:
1. Apply the Extract Block filter to extract only cells, not boundaries (as recommended in this topic).
2. Apply Point Data To Cell Data and then Cell Data To Point Data on slices where I need glyphs (velocity vectors), and then use glyphs on the result. This helps to "resample" data with interpolation and avoid zero-velocity (or almost zero-velocity) near-wall cells.

You can also set a threshold for the glyph filter. This would 'silent' the glyphs that have a magnitude of zero.
