Hi Dear All
for calculating h(convective heat transfer coefficient) I need to calculate mean temperature(bulk temperature) at each section of flow because my case is forced convective duct(internal) flow. I can use patchAverage utility to define mean temperature but my problem is that I don't know how should I define patches through flow(i mean between inlet and outlet patches) is there any other way to define mean temperature without defining patches? do you have any idea? thanks. You can use Paraview for this purpose.
define your arbitrary slice and calculate the mean temperature on this slice. see the following post for more info: #8

first thanks for your reply
in this way I think I should do this procedure 150 times because I want to calculate mean temperature along the axial direction of pipe at 150 different positions ( I've discrete length of pipe into 150 steps) . can't we write a code to do this? best regards arjang |

may be you can use paraview programmable filter to do those instructions in a loop

Greetings to all!
Have a look at this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post422561 - it shows a few examples on how to do this directly with OpenFOAM while the simulation is running. Best regards, Bruno
