Apologies for what seems a trivial question, but how can I sample at a SINGLE POINT? I've managed to sample across lines, but I just want to sample at a single coordinate, (x,y,z), and have tried using 'cloud' and other things but can't get it to work!
Thanks in advance. Olie |

Hi,
try probeLocations utility. Though all the values at different time steps will be in a single file. |

Hi,
Thanks this looks like what I'm after - is this something that I need to set up before running the simulation (there seems to be a lot of talk about it being related to the controlDict when I googled it), or something I can use AFTERWARDS like the rest of the sampleDict utilities? Thanks, Olie |

Hi,
if you'd like to do run-time probing, you put description of the probes into controlDict, if you'd like to do probing after simulation, you create probesDict file (see example in $FOAM_APP/utilities/postProcessing/sampling/probeLocations), put it in the system folder and run probeLocations. |
