Hello Foamers,
When I sample a surface with the sample utility (export to vtk format), I obtain a surface which is interrupted in several places. The attached image shows what I get, while I should have a single large rectangle. Has any of you experienced something similar? Do you know how to avoid it?
Regards,
Eloïse

Hi Eloïse,

I have seen this issue a few times:
  • One of them was actually with ParaView... although I can't find the thread for it. It was an isosurface that wasn't working properly due to how the mesh cells behaved in different multi-locks. But this was in ParaView, which was unable to properly decompose cells for the section cut.
  • Another was due to a bad mesh, which lead to the sampling mechanism to be unable to slice certain cells, because those cells were damaged.
  • If the section cut coincides with the faces of cells, this might lead to an issue of the sampling algorithm being unable to know where to cut... this has happened to me in ParaView, but it might happen in OpenFOAM's sampling code as well.
Best regards,
Bruno
