How to get cell data like center, volume/mass, velocity

Hey,

I'm doing some simulations of IC engines with dynamic mesh.

For analysing my results I need to calculate the swirl and tumble numbers.

For these calculation I need the coordinates of each cell center, the mass or Density and volume of each cell and the velocity vector representative for the cell center.

So far I'm collecting these data with the probes function but I'm not really satisfied with this solution because I dont reach every part of my volume in the boundary regions.

So my Idea is to create a cell set based on a stl surrounding my combustion chamber.

But I dont know how to continue after creating the cell set. Is the sample tool the right choice? How can I use it with a cell set/stl on a volume?

After looking at the sampleDict I had the impression that one can only use it for collecting data over lines or surfaces?!

Thanks in advance!
Julian

up!

Anyone got an idea? :o

IHMO, your best bet is to investigate swak4Foam. In terms of learning it, there are numerous examples provided with the source code and you can find Bernhard Gschaider's (swak author) talks and training from almost every OF workshop.

Thank you very much for your reply!

I will have a closer look to this tool.
