Hello everyone

I need to read mesh and data from a results file I've been provided with which is an output of iconCFD.

Is the format of the results file the same of openFOAM? I checked openFOAM reference and it seems actually the file structure is the same. Does anyone knows if they are actually written with the same format?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings Ezekhiel,

You should contact iconCFD to make certain of that. I don't think enough people who pay for iconCFD's services, will come by these forums.

Either way, as far as I know, iconCFD's base source code was either based on OpenFOAM 1.1 or the predecessor FOAM. Unfortunately, they are not publicly very clear what their version currently is and what it looks like.

Best regards,
Bruno

Hello Bruno

Thanks for the answer. Actually I think many people who have used/are using proprietary software like to go though this forum and section from time to time.

Anyway, since I'm not a user of iconCFD (and I do not plan to become one) neither can ask anything to Icon nor check their user manual. I'll try to read the results assuming the format is the same of openFOAM.

Regards.

elvis will become famous soon enough
Hi,

there should be a presentation
http://www.opensourcecfd.com/confere...ceedings-day-1
iconCFD 3.0 – A Modular Approach to Supporting Business with CFD
J. Papper, et al. ICON Ltd., UK

this presentation should be available for download free of charge (well free registration nescessary)
And I do not know if that is pure marketing stuff or if they provide real information.

Icon has developed solvers based on Open Foam and there was a HVAC solver (Audi stuff) in their download section years ago
