I am trying to simulate flow in backward facing step with oscillating flow so the reattachment point will oscillate along a point (as mentioned in attachment ), I want to track this reattachment point ( grad(U) / wallShearStress = 0 ) with time, I don't know how to do this.
I am using OpenFOAM 4.

I think I need to do something similar to
https://cfd.direct/openfoam/user-gui...rocessing-cli/

minMaxComponents: Writes out the minimum and maximum values, by component for non-scalar fields, and the locations where they occur.

minMaxMagnitude: Writes out the minimum and maximum values, by magnitude for non-scalar fields, and the locations where they occur.

I don't know how to use these function, please help me.

Kind Regards
Saurav

You may use

wallShearStress -latestTime

which gives you the surface stress.

Simulation will be unsteady so will it give wallShearStress at every time step, do i need to define it in controlDict file ?
how can i define this function ?

Leave the -latestTime and you get it in every time folder.
