Hello,

I am having a post processing question about my simulation, I would like help. I did a simulation on OpenFOAM, external flow in a cylinder, however, I can not visualize the simulation correctly, I would like to know the steps that I must take to be able to see the flow at the top.
I even modified the scale of the legend, and it was not even possible to visualize the Vortex of Karman.

Not sure what you mean. I can see the von Karman Vortex on your xy-plane. You want to look on the xz-plane? To see what exactly?

Edit: Maybe you want a slice to look on the vortex from xz-plane. Use the Slice function (third icon right from calculator.) then adjust the normal vector from 1 0 0 to what you need. e.g. 0 0 1 etc.

You need Contour plot for this. Use Contour button and choose as variable pressure or velocity or similiar. Also define the value you want the contours of. e.g. 1 m/s for velocity contours. It will give you the contours of this value in the whole domain. If you dont see anything the chossen value is not present (at current time step)

I got it, thanks.

I am new with post processing in ParaView. I tried to make the IsoSurface of the speed (U) and the vorticity function (whose I inserted into my ControlDict), but both options are not selectable in Countour, why? I can select 'p', 'omega', 'nut', 'yPlus' ... 'Co'.

gu1,

To do a contour of U, you need to make it a scaler and not a vector. Use the calculator filter and use the equation "mag(U)". After that you should be able to select velocity for your contour.

Ah, too late:
I think you can only use scalar values for IsoSurface. I think you can create a new scalar field with the magnitude of U and use this as input for the IsoSurface.

Ok, I will try. Thank you very much for your attention.

I have a simple question, already taking advantage of the topic and being of the same subject ... is it necessary that I convert to VTK (foamToVTK) correct? I did, but by '' automatic mode '' due to other forum topics.

Do the modification on your case before you do your isoSurfaces.
