Dear All,

suppose I have a pipe and I want to sample values of a variable along the wall. How can I accomplish it at every face centre with the sampling utility of OF (in my case OF 5)? I know it is possible to specify a "cloud" of points and sample at those locations. Is it a better way to do it with OF (instead of using paraview?)?.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

To myself (and alike), two clarifications in your question might be needed:

1. When you state "along the wall", do you mean boundary or internal values of some flow field?

2. When you state "sampling", do you actually mean "probing", as "cloud" indicates probing a simulation 'on-the-fly', yet sampling is usually termed for after-the-termination of a simulation?

Hi,
first of all thank you for your answer.

Now, back to your (correct) questions regarding my post:
1. I mean along a boundary wall
2. Sampling as post-processing along the boundary wall for the face values

Best Regards,
Luca

May I also ask which version of OpenFOAM you are using? There was a paradigm change in sampling and probing fields from OF version 3 towards 4.

Hi,
I am using OF 4.x or OF 5.x.
Thank you again for your time.
Best Regards,
Luca
