I am new to OpenFoam and have it installed on 2 computers. A laptop running Opensuse 15.2 and a Desktop running Opensuse 15.1. The sample problem - pitzDaily - works fine on the laptop, but on the Desktop I get the following error when using paraFOAM:
d3bb8fa69348: pitzDaily>> paraFoam Created temporary 'pitzDaily.OpenFOAM' QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-openfoam' No protocol specified qt.qpa.screen: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0 Could not connect to any X display. I can look at the results in paraview if I run "foamToVTK" and exit docker (all works fine then), but it would be convenient to have it work from within docker. Any suggestions would be great. I found a few similar posts but none that seemed to directly solve this issue. Thanks, Georg |

Hi, Georg,
I met the same problem using the docker version openfoam. I still cannot find a way to enable the command 'paraFoam', but I found an alternative way to use paraview. After meshing, calculating, you can creat a '.foam' file using command: touch case1.foam Then, open your paraview manually and find this file. You can now see the results of your calculation. Hope this helps. Lei |
