When I touch a .foam file it creates exactly what I expect except for that the file does not contain the U, T, p, p_rgh... variables. However, my timestep that has been written does have them in the files. Does anyone know why my .foam file does not contain this? The part I am talking about is in ParaView, under the solid colour dropdown where it is expected that there will be all of these different options present.

Hello,
The .foam file is an empty file used to trigger the OpenFOAM reader in ParaView. It directly reads the OpenFOAM files and directories, so if your files exist in your case, ParaView should be able to read it. Few things to verify in ParaView:
![]() Don't forget to click on "Apply" to load the data. Then make sure to move to the proper timestep: ![]() And you can also check the "Cell arrays" list to verify that you see your variable list there. |
