Hi, I am interested in doin

I am interested in doing POD of my snapshots from my scalar/vector field results. Did anyone here implement an algorithm for this already that you want to share?? I have one already in fortran that is not compatible with OpenFOAM format so it would take some effort to rewrite it.

I think such a tool would be valuable in the OpenFOAM postproc toolkit

As you can see, the POD tools in OpenFOAM are working already: I am currently using POD-based data analysis on LES results (but there are several other things to be done with it as well). However, this is as yet unpublished work and a basis of some further developments close to my heart. My practice is not to release the code untli the poeple who did the work complete their publications and similar - this a very important part of the work.

Thanks for your answer! I need to get the POD results as fast as I can, so I guess I will have to make an ugly solution of mapping the formats between the two codes (at least for now).

Regarding your presentation, I found your slide on aeroacoustics interesting (slide nr 9). Parts of my research is about evaluating acoustic fields, although I use an acoustic analogy (solving the wave equation). Would you care to expand on the method in your presentation a bit? I guess this tool is also not distributed right?

I'm thinking to use POD as a w
I'm thinking to use POD as a way to compress the transient data. Any experience of how efficient is it in doing such job for wall bounded flows with separation. Thanks.
