buoyantBoussinesqPimpleFoam Vs pisoFoam with buoyancy

Hi all,

I'm trying to compare the results for a natural convection in a 2D heated cavity case with buoyantBoussinesqPimpleFoam and pisoFoam with the source term for buoyancy. It is just an exercise.

What fields should I take care while setting up the case in the latter? Pressure is dealt with differently in both solvers, so what precautions should I take?

Did you have a look at buoyantPimpleFoam. It should do exactly what you are planing.

Hi Joachim,

I want to compare the results of BuoyantBoussinesqPimpleFoam with one of solvers not a part of the buoyancy solvers that OpenFOAM has. I'm doing this to better understand the p_rgh term. Since ordinary incompressible flows have just the pressure field 'p', how would one achieve a buoyancy driven flow here while adding rho*g*beta*(T-TRef) as a source term to the momentum equation. How should I initialise the pressure and other fields as?
