Mesh refinement regions with snappyHexMesh

Hi all,

I would like to know if in snappyHexMesh, refinement regions can be specified based on the locations that I want? For example I have a terrain map with some wind turbines. I have 20 turbines and I would like to refine the regions around my wind turbines in order to capture the wake? Is such a thing possible in snappyHexMesh?
I would appreciate any help and many thanks.

Cheers,

Andrei

yep its possible :) you define inside/outside or distance from an specific region then it refines it

Hey,

have a look at the tutorials, especially for the incompressible/pimpleDyMFoam/wingMotion/wingMotion_snappyHexMesh/system/snappyHexMeshDict.
There you can find an example for refine your surface (refine any patch field) and how to define an block as refinement region.

Thanks guys. I'll have a look at the tutorials.

Take a look at this tutorial

I think it's exactly what you want.
