gas nozzle in vacuum chamber

Hi all!

To start off, I'm very new to Openfoam.

My problem: I am trying to simulate a gas (Argon) entering a vacuum chamber (pressure in the mbar range, 1 - 10 mbar) at a certain speed (or mass flow, whichever).

I'm starting with simple geometries (pipe, nozzle on one side, outlet on the opposite side) but so far I've had no luck.

Which solver should I use? Boundary conditions?

Any help is of course appreciated!

Thanks!

Paolo

Hi Paolo,
I am also working with similar problem. I could simulate flow in vacuum chamber but I still have some problems.
I have used rhoCentralFoam and pisoCentralFoam.
My simulation used to diverge as numerically pressure used to go below 0 pa. So i limited it to 0.000001 pa in the solver.
In both the cases, I have observed is that I get a strage velocity profile near the shock region. I performed a fluent simulation on same geometry but this problem is not observed.
May be someone can help out.

Thanks Chirag! I'll try the solvers and see how it goes :-)
