Hi guys.

I'm a beginner in openfoam, and willing to use it for calculating electromagnetic field inside 3 phase inductor. I will have to re-write a solver for that, but that for another story.

For a case of that kind, I need to create a cubic (or another simple shape) block, which will be the "air" around. In that air I need to create another block, with faces and boundaries, that will be the electrical conductor.

I'm looking for the easiest and elegant way of doing that, but because of the geometry of the conductors I will have to build it in solidworks. Manipulate the case to be simple as the one in the link is not possible.

My question is how to combine the two objects into one within the other, enabling me to create different boundary condition to the inner and the outer, and also different field values for the two objects.

My idea is that:
1. build the "air" in openfoam and mesh.
2. create the conductor in solidworks.
3. use snappyhexmesh in order to merge between the two.
4. in snappyhexmesh dict I will create regions that later be used in setfieldsdict.
5. the same way faces will be created under condition of 'path' for use in 0/abc field's file.

Since I haven't yet acquire the knowledge I need to do that all, I'm asking if the direction I'm going is right. Also if there is another way, I will be more than happy to learn.

thanks for at list reading until here,
Or Werner.
