Hello,
for my study i have to set the velocity and pressure profiles at the outlet of a channel as initial conditions at the inlet of another channel. The two channel have the same dimensios and number cells at the inlet and outlet.
So i have two problem:

1- how can i extract the outlet velocity profile? I tried to use post-processing tool like "probes" or "internalCloud" or "boundaryCloud" but i'm not able to set them to extract the profile at the outlet, because they are set to extract the velocity starting from point.

2- how can i set the velocity profile as initial condition at the inlet of the second channel?

Thanks for help

Hello

Have a look at swak4Foam and the groovyBC boundary condition tool. It allows one to use an arbitrary expression to be used to set the boundary conditions. Else it is also possible to read in a data file as well.

Regards,
Brian

Hello Brian,
thank you for the suggestion about groovyBC boundary condition; it will be useful. Unfortunately, i cannot extract the outlet profile yet.

Best Regards,
Roberto

Hi Roberto

To extract the velocity profile, have you tried using Paraview to extract it at the outlet? You can view just your outlet patch (or a slice near it) and view the velocities then.

Brian

Hi Brian,
thank you, for the second time, for your suggestion. I was so focused in using the OpenFoam utility that i haven't taken into account ParaView.
As you told me i selected only the ouput region for the mesh and then i saved the data in CSV format.

Best Best Regards,
Roberto
