Hi, is there a known problem with overset mesh near wall boundaries?

In the attached figure I get blocked-out cells (red) near the bottom floor. Here my (inserted) overset mesh block coinsides with a wall boundary of the background mesh. Simulation works fine, otherwise but of course I get a big undesired wall near the floor.

Thx,

Mads

According to some guidelines, it is not possible to have walls in the background mesh. Did you solve the issue? I plan to use a similar background mesh and I need to impose wall BC in one of the patches.

Best Regards
Marce

Hey, no Ii did not find a solution. I also read that walls could not get close to mesh boundaries when using overset mesh, by design, unfortunately. This makes it unusable for me. They might have fixed/implemented this by now. I should really revisit this 😀

Hello folks,

There were some changes in v2212 which may be useful:
Quote:
The overset framework has been extended to:

1. allow overset patches to extend outside the background domain;
2. allow fringe faces away from the hole cells in the background domain; and
3. add an option to improve mass conservation.

I did not have the opportunity to test it but I would be curious to know what you manage to do on such cases!

Regards,
Yann
