Dear All,

I am trying to create my own solver. I need buoyancy and I need a moving mesh.

The solver that I need should be the buoyantPimpleDyMFoam solver.

My questions are:

1. has anybody already done something like this?
2. is it smarter to modify the buoyantPimpleFoam solver adding the moving mesh features or to edit the PimpleDyMFoam solver, adding the energy equation?

Also, any idea about how to work on it?

Thanks a lot,

Samuele

Dear All,

I hope that someone is interested in the solver. I am attaching what I did. It compiles. The point is that we have to test and validate it.

I attach the solver, here.

If anyone tests it, that would be very appreciate.

Thanks a lot,

Samuele

Hi Samuele

I am working on something similar (also need buoyancy and a moving mesh) and compiled a combination of buoyantBoussinesqPimpleFoam and pimpleDyMFoam. I was just curious if you did ever get your solver validated in anyway/or any reasonable results?

Cheers

Jamie.

Dear Jamie,

actually, I have changed my field of study and I have not dug deeper into that problem. If you are interested in it, I think we can share our studies, in order to discover something interesting. What do you think about this?

Thanks a lot,
Samuele

Hey Jamie!
I was just looking for exactly that solver you've mentioned. As my programming skills still are very limited, I'd like to ask if you would share your source code for that solver?
Kind regards

Hello Mezomatic,

I am trying to create a solver that should be called buoyantBoussinesqPimpleDyMFoam (mentioned by Jamie). Did you succeed in finding/creating such a solver ?

Cheers,

Theo
