Hello,

I need some general advice or approach to the following task:

My task is to simulate transport of a small steel wire inside a vertical channel.
The steel wire should be carried by the upwards flow, highly turbulent, and then captured by a filter located in the upper part of the channel.

Since I cannot treat this steel wire as a particle (it's neither spherical nor smaller than the size of a mesh cell) pure particle tracking methodology is not suitable.

Is there any way to tackle this without rebuilding existing or creating a new solver?

I do not know, how the following method works for particles larger than the grid cells, but it might be worthwhile to look at:

At least at inspiration.

Thank you for your interest,

I've come across with Jelena Andric's thesis already it's a nice work and might be useful for me as well.
I had the same idea to build a solid body with small spheres, maybe I will give a try first to this. Thanks for the link
