dear foamer
I have very simple problem with interFoam:
I wanna saw the surface tension true implemented in interFoam. I used a square without gravity and I must saw square change into circle and steady. I run my case after that square change to circle but droplet start move in domain and has a unsteady regime and stream line is wrong. I change boundary conditions and mesh. answer be better but still answer is wrong and just amplitude move is decrease.
I'm used openFoam 2.2.1 and ubuntu 12.04
do you have any idea about my problem?
best regards
Sajad

Hi Sajad,

Yes, it is because of the generation of spurious current because of numerical inaccuracies in the surface treatment.

You will find a huge number of threads on this forum and scientific publications on this matter.

Kind regards,

Niels

P.S. This is not a "Programmering and development" question, so proper choice of subforum will help you in the future.

Hi, the main problem is the curvature calculation.

Regards.

Hi Sajad,

As others have said there is a lot of prior work looking into these numerical effects. I've found the following very useful as a reference when using interFoam

You might find the time-step limits helpful in your problem, although they can be restrictive in terms of solve time - I would suggest starting with them to see if they help and then backing off to find a suitable compromise for your model.
