Hey Foamers,
I have implemented particle tracking into a solver with a custom class inherited from the solidParticle class that includes electrostatic body forces from an external field and mutual repulsion between other particles. The solver works fine for large particles (with respect to the mesh cell size) but when I simulate particles that are less than the size of the mesh who start completely inside one cell they seem to get "stuck" in that cell. They will just kind of bounce around within the cell with obtaining unrealistic velocity values. The developers even mention that particles getting stuck in cells had been an issue in the past (see http://www.openfoam.org/version2.0.0/lagrangian.php). Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance for the help! -Eric |

I found a solution to my problem and thought I'd post it here. The issue turned out the be some sort of numerical problem due to the fact that I had set my dt too high. When I lowered the timestetp significantly the particles behaved as they should.
