newbie_cfd is on a distinguished road
Hello,

I am been using commercial CFD software for a while (Fluent and Star-CCM+ mainly); and support has generally been very good.
Most of interactions has been through 1/ questions on running new cases (what is the best way? is there something I've missed?) and 2/ providing 'bug' reports.
I am interested in going further with OpenFOAM and would like to get a similar support.
I am proficient in CFD, meshing, HPC and Linux so I'm really looking support on the OpenFOAM tool (and this probably mean a bit of development now and then) but my main needs would be 1/ something to exchange with in terms of setting up new cases and ideally 2/ having a range of tutorials (advanced) to look through (i.e. "oh, yeah, we've done something like this before"; similar to the range of tutorials commercial software offer).
An interest in the marine industry would be a plus.
Any recommendations? cfd.direct (http://cfd.direct/openfoam-support/cfd-support/) and openfoam/esi (http://www.openfoam.com/support/development.php)

Thanks,
NB

akidess will become famous soon enough
CFDDirect (Weller) and Wikki (Jasak) are natural options to look at. Then there are 3rd party supporters with lots of experience like ICON (more automotive though). Depending on where you are and the work you want to do you might also want to talk to university groups with OpenFOAM expertise, such as Hakan Nilsson in Chalmers, Eric Paterson at Virginia Tech or Kevin Maki at UMich.
hjasak and wayne14 like this.
