couple own c++ code with OpenFoam

Hi everyone,
I spent more than half a year as a user of OpenFoam(mostly using waves2Foam) and I am new as a programmer. My supervisor hopes to develop a solver to solve wave structure interaction problems based on potential flow theory.I think it is hard to modify the solvers or write my own in OpenFoam. So I firstly translated my supervisor's Fortran code to c++.The code is based on potential flow theory using FVM.
Now I want to couple the own C++ solver with OpenFoam to make it a part of OpenFoam. Can anyone give me some advice that whether it is possible or give me some advice about some other ways to develop the solver?
Thank you very much.
