Hi Forum,
I hope this thread is in its correct location. We know that mutil official OpenFOAM files of different versions live at github and this makes great sense for users with different needs. I work with OF-2.3.0 on ubuntu and have developed my own project userName-2.3.0 which includes src/ & application/ & run/ & platforms/ directories, just as the official OF-2.3.0's structure. Now I want to backup/track my project files in userName-2.3.0 and upload them to github so that everytime I change my own files I could track the changes and pull the updated files to another workplace. So my questions would be: (1) how to only upload userName-2.3.0 files to github without the official OF-2.3.0? (2) how to track changes of my project userName-2.3.0 if I changed my code locally on ubuntu? (3) how to pull only userName-2.3.0 files from github without the official OF-2.3.0 to another workplace? (if I want to use my project on another ubuntu with OF-2.3.0 installed and compiled) I searched a lot on this but could only find: https://olesenm.github.io/2009/11/12...nFOAM-and-git/ & http://petebachant.me/track-changes-...iles-with-git/ & https://www.cfdengine.com/blog/meet-...oam-lifesaver/ . Could someone kindly offer a step-by-step tutorial on how to do this? I think this would be great for most OF users whether or not facing the same situation. Thanks in advance. /Karekle |
