develloping an overtSet solver with only one region

Hello foamers,

I am currently working on a coupling between an external solver and OpenFoam (17.12). I don't have an important background to the development in OpenFOAM, even if I have already written a couple of small solvers. I searching for leads to follow.

I have all the results of this external solver (in the OpenFoam format, ie results are in 0/ 0.025/ 0.050...) and I want OF to import them and work with them. I would like to use a different mesh and a different time step.

The mesh coming from outside is overlapping the one i'll solve the problem on.

I was thinking about using a region decomposition, such that one region is the "background" external part with real only, and one is the solved region.

I've also seen the overSet possibilities. And I think It could be a good idea to incorporate the multiRegions possibilities in overInterFoam.

The problem is from what I understood the latest use Cellset where multiRegion use Cellzone (and of course region).

Will it be possible to use the tools from overSet on a multiRegion mesh?

Would you have an idea where I should go look for?
