Howdy Foamers:

My previous post of this question was more general. After a few days of searching through the code and this forum, I can narrow this down a little further.

In a nutshell, I would like to use fvPatchField (i.e., boundary condition) to access the volume scalar (other than the scalar for the prescribed boundary) of all cells belonging to this patch. It is relatively straightforward to do this the other way around (from the cells I can get the boundary it belongs to), but I have trouble starting from the particular boundary.

If anyone know how this could possibly be accomplished that would be great.

Gerry.

Howdy Foamers:

After a few days of digging around I have managed to access the cells and the corresponding scalar field near a boundary. At the moment I managed to make a registry call to obtain the entire grid and the relevant solution field. It is not very elegant (in my opinion) but it works.

The next logical question would be, is there a way to access patch cells local to each compute core?

Thanks in advance, Gerry.
