Hello. I am fairly new to OpenFoam and am trying to understand the impact of particle collisions in OpenFoam Lagrangian sims (specifically, I am using the icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam solver). So far, I have a general idea of how drag, lift etc. are determined and used to update particle velocities. But I cannot quite figure out how inter-particle collision forces affect particle positions and velocities, and thus the aforementioned forces. If someone can guide me in this regard, I would be very grateful.

Thanks!

Dear Shah Akib
there is no particle-particle collision in openfoam solvers. Only in MPPIC, openfoam simulate the collision without resolving it.

At least in the ESI version, I could find a ‘pairSpringSliderDashpot’ model that can be used to model particle-particle collisions.
