Hi,

I use laplacianFoam in steady state in openfoam 3.0.1 and when it converges it stops even if it hasn't reached the maximum of timesteps. When I use the same problem in foam extend 3.2 even if it converges and the values don't change it doesn't stop and it goes all the way.

I saw in the src directories of both installations and the solutioncontrol is missing from foam extend. Is there a way to make foam extend stop when it reaches convergence?

seems to be a bug, you probably want to report it. Or you can copy the missing part and recompile Openfoam all over again.

Thank you for the reply. The problem is not at openFoam but at foam-extend. My question is if convergence control has been implemented in foam-extend and how to enable it is an easy way.

Adding patches to openFoam and foam extend goes beyond my capacity.

I have the exact same issue. Does anyone know of a solution? I don't feel too confident messing about under the hood of openFoam, but this seems like a really trivial problem, as it should be solved with a simple "if solution field residual < convergenceCriterion then stop".

Anyone?

Could someone maybe point out how this could be changed in the source code of whatever solver one may be using?

Check under $FOAM_APP/solvers. Search for the string 'convergenceCriterion'.

The source code for the solver simpleFoam is a good example.
