Hi,

I'm using the pimplefoam solver to compute the unsteady flow in a 2d channel bifurcation with 1 inlet and 2 outlets and the simulation diverges because the mass flow is not balanced at the outlet. I didn't find any information on the parameter used in the pimple solver. Is it possible to make multiple sub-iteration as in the SIMPLE algorithm?

Many thanks,

Yannick

Hi,

As I don't have any answer i will reformulate my question. Are these parameter OK to have PIMPLE behave like SIMPLE ?

PIMPLE
{
nOuterCorrectors 5;
nCorrectors 2;
nNonOrthogonalCorrectors 0;
pRefCell 0;
pRefValue 0;
}

relaxationFactors
{
fields
{
}
equations
{
"U.*" 0.7;
"k.*" 1;
"epsilon.*" 1;
}
}

Many thanks,

Yannick

Yannick,

The fact that the mass flow is not balanced ( inlet 1 = outlet1 +outlet2), I think, points towards boundary conditions or any other issue rather than the pimple solver setup.
