adjointShapeOptimizationFoam

Hi to everyone!
As the title says, I'm trying to understand how the solver "adjointShapeOptimization" works! I've just run the pitzDaily tutorial with that solver but, as I try to look at the results with paraFoam, I can't see any change in the geometry as I was, instead, expecting. Have I misunderstood the behavior of that solver or I'm doing something wrong with the commands?

Thanks in advance for all the answers! :)

Maybe anyone know where I can find the full documentation about this solver? I've found the article of Othmer but I can't download it for free since, obviously, it is in the AIAA site. :)

Hi Simone,

AdjointShapeOptimizationFoam is a topological shape optimizer, not a surface shape optimizer. Look at the development of the 'alpha' field to see the optimized shape.

Doing a Google search for the terms 'Othmer' and 'adjoint' produces a long list of references, some even pointing to freely available PDF's.

regards,
Sylvester
