Hi everybody,
I am starting to get crazy. I try to compute with pimpleDymFoam and the GGI a rotation inside a 3d mesh. but i get a floating point exception all the time. tried a lot of differentz variations for the BCs. maybe someone of you got an idea and time to have a look on the foam case? here the link: http://ubuntuone.com/4PqnqemcYoYaOLZesQ0U4d best wishes Andy |

Hi Andy,
i am almost in the same situation with you. I am trying to do a centrifugal pump simulation with openFoam 1.6 ext, and i am also using ggi algorithm and pimpleDyMFoam solver. i tried lots of things but i am still getting a floating point exceptin error. The only improvement i got was setting the case with 1st order schemes (for time scheme backward, and for dic schemes gauss upwind) so that simulation run more time steps, but it doesn't make any sense of course when it crashes at the end. Anyway, if you solved your problem, can you please help me in this matter. How did you manage it? regards dogan |

The problem was caused by an defect CPU. By trying the simulation on different PC everything worked well. maybe you can upload your case and we can have a look. andy |

Hi again Andy,
I am not sure whether my problem may be because of a defect cpu, because i tried to run it with icoDyMFoam which is again a transient solver but it is not turbulent, and it didn't crash. This makes me think probably my problem is because of bad BCs especially in the k and omega files. anyway i will try to send you the case as soon as possible to let you try it. Thanks in advance Dogan |

Hi,
I did the transient simulation of a centrifugal pump by OpenFOAM-1.6-ext, too. It stopped at the starting time, so, I don't know what's wrong with my case. Here is my log : 16ext-error.jpg I use the solver, that is, transientSimpleDyMFoam, downloaded from the following: Are OSIG TurboMachinery libraries able to work under OpenFOAM-1.6-ext? could you give me some hints? I'd like to send you my case. Thanks, Yun Ren |
