simpleFoam with pumped outlet, will this work?

I am trying to run a basic simulation using simpleFoam where water flows into a tank and is "sucked out" a vertical pipe that starts just above the floor of the tank and is attached to a pump above the tank

I am specifying inlet velocity, and a pressure and velocity at the base of the vertical pipe (within the tank), and leaving the pressure at the actual outlet of the pipe (which terminates above the tank) as zeroGradient, I am also specifying a pRef value for a cell at the base of the tank, my pRefValue is the water column at said cell.

I'm getting semi-believable results, and I'm wondering if this is just a fluke or if I'm doing this right.

good karma to anyone who can help

If you post your case it would be much easier for us to help you. The mistakes are often in the details ;)

You can attach a zip file to your answer or share a link (dropbox, ...)

I ended up finding some major issues with my mesh, which have now been corrected.

I'm still having issues with my boundary conditions.

Water is entering the tank from the large horizontal pipe and would be drawn out from the vertical pipe in the corner of the tank (this is a pump suction line).

my BCs are as follows:

U:
inlet
fixedValue uniform (10.5 0 0)
outlet
pressureInletOutletVelocity uniform (0 0 1)
walls
fixedValue uniform (0 0 0)

P:
inlet
zeroGradient
outlet
totalPressure uniform 0

With this I get a "believable" flow entering the tank but the flow wont go up through the outlet pipe. I am specifying the face of the top of the outlet pipe as my outlet.
