I am trying to simulate a flow in a different density medium. The flow gets vaporized once it reaches the specific value. Now in interPhaseChangeFoam tutorial, it is given only for 2 phases (one liquid and vapor), how to incorporate another fluid and what changes I should make in the solver. How to define the alpha1 for three fluids( 2liquids and vapor)? Do I need two alpha1 file (one for two different liquid and one for vapor, at t=0).

Please suggest

Hi, vishal,
I also want to simulate three phase, and two liquid and vapor. But I am newer here. I don't know how to modify the interPhaseChangeFoam. Do you have solved it?
Hope you could have time to reply! Thanks.

On the one hand:

There is only the solver interPhaseChange(DyM)Foam avaiable to simulate two phase with phase-changing processes (e.g. Oil and vapour to simulate cavitation in journal bearings).

on the other hand:

There is the three-phase solver multiphaseInter(DyM)Foam, which can calculate flows consisting of three phases but without phase change .

That means:

you maybe must build your own solver based of the two solvers mentioned above.

Hi, Felix
Firstly, thank you for your reply.
I also feel I should build my own solver. The multiphaseInterFoam includes four phase. In my case, there is two inlet(one is liquid1 and another is for liquid2), the outlet is vapor(vapor generate when two liquid meet due to difference in temperature). It is like boiling. So i think i should use interPhaseChangeFoam by adding the temperature field. But I don't know how to modify the alpha file.
Could you have any suggestion?
Best.

Hi
I want to model a river flow, in which there will be three layers air, water and sediment from top to bottom.Would you please suggest me which solver should i used in openfoam and where to define the layers thickness.
Thanks.
