Centrifugal separator simulation

Hi all,

I am currently working on my Master's thesis on a Centrifugal Separator (vertical disk-stack type); I would like to do a qualitative analysis of the behaviour of a two-phase flow within the rotation bowl of the machine.

I am totally new to CFD and OpenFOAM, and I would like to start maybe with a 2D model and then, if possible, try to do something in 3D.

After taking a first look a the User's Guide, I believe there are some solvers which might be appropriate (interFoam, LTSInterFoam, settlingFoam, etc.).

Does anyone have any suggestion, hint, tip, advice on where I could start my work?

Best regards,
Ricardo

Hi

Look at the tutorials.

You could also try and contact this guy.

He has done some multiphase simulations with OF that looks quite nice.

Hei,

Thank you very much for the hint. I will look into it.

Best regards
