I'd like a simulation to match the Moody chart data published here:

Direct Numerical Simulation with a full 3D-meshed long pipe should work, but
will take too long to run.

Instead, what is the best way to model turbulence in a 2D representation?
Pipe flow really only has 1D of freedom, so this seems easy at first, but I'm
not very familiar with turbulence models...

By the way, I'm thinking to avoid the common k-epsilon model of turbulence
because it requires "wall functions" with a minimum y+ (also, I prefer the
log-law "wall functions" to be an output of the simulation instead of being an
input). Instead, I need the simulation method to work in the limit of an
infinitely-fine mesh. Is there a way to run k-epsilon on this case without
"wall functions"? In case that leads to k-omega, is k-omega good for my goal?
If I am misunderstanding the k-epsilon model, please correct me, thanks!
