Non-orthogonality correction
 

I am trying to understand how the correction mechanism for non-orthogonal diffusion terms works. Some aspects have been discussed in this forum, but rather unsatisfactorily I feel. After reading through Dr. Jasaks dissertation I understand that the terms are split into a dominant implicit part and a term k, which is treated as a source term. This setup is then somehow solved through iterating the solution in the PISO algorithm.

Within the OpenFOAM structure (using PIMPLE) I find two influential points towards the treatment of non-orthogonality:
- setting the relevant schemes to corrected/limited
- setting nNonOrthogonalCorrectors to >0

Now, what do these do? How do you use them and how do they work together?

Would be great if someone, with more insight than the rookie I am, could clarify that or link me to relevant documentation! Thank you!

Hi, both settings are complementary, the first one turns or not the corrections and the second one tells the number of corrections.
