Porous media
Hello everyone,
i am a little bit confused how OpenFOAM is dealing with flows in porous media. "In OpenFOAM porous media is modeled by attenuating the time derivative and by adding a sink term to the Navier-Stokes equations." from the Haukur Elvar Hafsteinsson tutorial. Could someone give me some hints of papers / books where the porosity in the time derivation comes from? The second question is, if I'm dealing with flows in porous media governed e.g. by simple darcy's law, why do we still solve the hole NS equations? Kind regards, Niels |
