Hello,

I tried to convert the tutorial "chtMultiRegionHeater" to a steady-state case. It has now two solid regions (heater and rightSolid), one fluid region (air/domain0) and a symmetryPlane. The heater has a heat source.

It seems to work fine on the fluid side. But the solid regions are heating up / cooling down very slow and I can't figure out why.

I uploaded the whole case and screenshots whit this Post. Every help is welcome.

Hello Sven!

Thermal convergence may be quite slow with chtMultiRegionSimple Foam. Take a look at these threads

I haven't taken a look into your case but I'm sure you will find the solution in th links above.

Cheers!

The case I talk about in this site was solved with chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam solver and involves radiation. Some basic tutorials are also resolved step by step in the web. If you are interested in these matters, you are invited to come in!

Hi Sven,

I had a similar problem recently, which is how I came across this post. I upped the underrelaxation for h in the solid region to 1.0, I imagine that this would be stable under most if not all conditions. Not sure why it's so low in the tutorials. Anyway, it seems to be working for me, 6 degrees of change in the first 17000 iterations became 100 degrees in the following thousand. Reducing the tolerance (increasing the iterations) in the solid region didn't seem to do much for me.
