I am using pisoFoam to run LES over an essentially 2D geometry extruded in third dimension with 128 cells. I am using periodic boundary conditions for the third dimension and total cell count is ~34 millions. I am using scotch decomposition for partitioning.

The solver fails right after "Create mesh for time = 0" with an error, corresponding error log attached as error1.txt. A similar set up ran with debug mode showed similar error stack which is attached as error2.txt.

On looking through forums I came across a bug reported with title "0000879: OF crashes using cyclic BC with scotch decomposition" (http://www.openfoam.org/mantisbt/view.php?id=879). Since this was marked resolved and my error stack looks similar I reported another bug with title "0001386: OF fails after "Create mesh for time = 0" (http://www.openfoam.org/mantisbt/view.php?id=1386). However, it hasn't been assigned yet.

So I am writing here to look for ideas to go around this problem.
