Hi Foamers,
I am a little bit confused about the term compressible/incompressible solvers and the thermopysical models in OpenFoam. I would like to simulate an incompressible flow of gas, where the density only varies with temperature and composition (Mach<0.3). I have seen there is an equ.of.state called incompressiblePerfectGas. Which solver is the right one?? (reactingFoam??) This solver looks like a compressible solver for me?? Any examples. Are the compressible solvers like rhoPimpleFoam really compressible solvers or only solvers with variable density?? My intention is to simulate a sharp density gradient. (e.g. rho_1 = 1, rho_2 = 0.1) kind regards Florian |

Hi me again ,
is there anybody who knows how to setup a case with rhoReactingFoam?? I would like to use rhoReactingFoam, because this solver should be able to handle incompressiblePerfectGas. I have made a case ( see attached) but it crashes after 2 iterations. Is there any mastermind who can help me with this simulation?? some information about what I want to do with this simulation: I would like to simulate a 1d case (later 3d). The 1d-channel is filled with N2 and has a temparture of 300K. At the inlet CO2 enters the channel with a temperature of 350K. The CO2 will replace the N2 in the channel. All of this should be incompressible flow of compressible fluid (rho do not change with pressure, only with temperature and composition) Later I will use pseudo-species with higher density difference. I am using OF 2.3.0 Kind regards Florian |

Sorry me again,
is there somebody who knows how to use the thermophysical library for incompressible flow (rho = f(T,Y) only)?? I don't get my simulation runnig kind regards Florian |
