MRF- rotor zone extended beyond the boundary wall

2 Attachment(s)
Hi foamers,

I'm trying to simulate the flow in a mixing tank. When I try to specify the rotor zone for rotating frame, I had some questions about its boundary.

My impeller is really close the outer wall, as you can see it in the attached image. So my question is: can I assign the rotor zone extended beyond the outer wall, like the red box in the first image; or do I have to assign a smaller zone, like the red box in the second image?

Thanks in advance!

DearLitao,

for my wind turbine rotor blade it worked to choose the rotationg zone too big, so that it exceeds the meshed space.

Best regards
Julian

Hi ,

Assign a smaller rotor as shown in the second image and i think it should work

Hello,

As said in previous post you can smaller rotating zone or otherwise if you want to use bigger zone you can try to use non-rotating patch specification in MRF zone.

Thank you all.

I'm now using the smaller rotating zone, I think it works fine. :)
