relatively simple transient conduction shell problem
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All ;
Does anybody know how to solve following relatively simple transient (take-home) problem presented in the attach file by the OpenFoam. Outer boundary has a heat flux 10 (w/m2). Inner boundary has a constant temperature of 300 k. The field domain is consisted of an outer Aluminum solid shell and an inner steel solid shell (specified by solid internal field1 and solid internal field2 in the figure, respectively). Thanks in advance for any suggestion. |

Geometrical data for conduction shell problem
Hi again;
Besides, left and right faces are insulated (adiabatic). Cylinder lengths are 50 cm. R1 and R2 are 10cm ,14 cm, respectively. Thicknesses for both conduction shells are 4cm. |
Some questions about my pure conduction problem
Dear friends
My objectives for this problem are as follows: 1- My experience on the OpenFoam is limited only to the Lid driven cavity tutorial study and I am going to solve my project as a commencing point for this open source code. 2- I am going to solve this take-home problem and validate it with analytical solution to measure numerical solution. 3- This geometrical model is made in the SolidWorks software and it is better to learn how to export to foam mesh maker. 4- This problem is axisymmetric and I did not deal with this kind of boundary condition in Lid driven cavity tutorial. 5-also, in FluentAnsys soft Udf's were assigned for some complex commands , for example, looping on some cells and assigning some parameters on them. I don't know how to deal with these tasks by Openfoam . 6- How do foam users solve a pure conduction problem In the absence of any convection or radiation terms. Thx a lot for any help. |
did you manage to solve problem??
if yes can you help me. I am trying to simulate concentric pipe heat exchange problem with hot water through inner pipe and cold water through outer. |
Hi,
I advise you start with ChtmultiregionFoam tutorial. Even, once, I had read a heat exchanger modeling by ChtmultiregionFoam in OpenFoam sites. Also, if you encounter any problem consult me. I hope you could start by this case. |
