Flow through a porous domain - domain issues
1 Attachment(s)
Dear all,
I'd like to use OpenFoam to simulate a setup that involves a swirler, a honeycomb and many more things. I managed to include most of my geometry and physics, however I'm stuck with the honeycomb. To get started, I thought of using a simple setup, say a duct with a honeycomb, acting as a flow straightener. Having searched the forums and the tutorials, I think simpleFoam + fvOptions is the way to go for my problem, but I am stuck with the porous domain, or more specifically, the mesh. I created a geometry in ICEM (see screenshot) with a doamin Fluid1, Porous, and Fluid2. These domains are separated by a surface. Now to my question: How do I tell OpenFoam where the porous domain is? Do I: 1. Set the name of the POROUS domain in the fvOptions file and specify the interfaces as patches, where each computed quantity (U,p,...) has a zeroGradient boundary condition, or 2. Do I use the setTopo utility? If option2, could someone explain (in detail, pretty please) how this is done. I can't make head and tails of what I can find in the forum/tutorials. Thanks! |
