Hi All,
I am modelling a restrained floating body in waves (large waves) using the sixDoFRigidBodyMotion solver. However, the simulation blow up due to bad mesh deformation (I am dealing with 4-5m heave, 10-20m surge and around 40-50(degrees) pitch). I have been using OF2.3. However, it seems that there are more mesh options in foam-extend 3.1. I was wondering if anyone had experience using foam-extend mesh motion solvers with sixDoFRigidBody motion and large displacements? and what is the best option for such large displacements? I would highly appreciate any help. Cheers Ashkan Last edited by ashkan; May 15, 2015 at 01:57. |

Same here.
I am doing oscillating cylinder with large deformations. Expecting such tetFem with sixDoF solver. I tried this but could not compile on foam-extend-3.1 http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...mposition.html |

I was wondering if you have progressed with the simulations and would like to share your experience about 6DoF solvers for floating bodies? (and large displacements...). Any particular trick (setting) and/or preferred solver? I am currently using sixDoFRigidBodyMotion on OF 2.4.0 but it is a bit tricky to set the model up correctly, allowing the solver not to crash for mesh skewing/squashing. Thanks in advance.
