Hi guys,

In tutorials of DPMFoam and MPPICFoam. this file "kinematicCloudPositions" is provided by OpenFOAM. But how can I initialize it by my own? if I wanna change another geometry.

https://github.com/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM...CloudPositions

Thanks.

Hi sharonyue,

I'm also checking out the MPPICFoam.
To initialize particle positions, I wrote a small c++ code myself to randomly generate positions within the domain.

I have a question related to this though,...
The positions generated are for parcels. Each parcel contains N particles. Do we need to check for overlap of parcels when initializing? If yes, how?

Thanks.
Ame

Hi Shiting,

That has been a while since I played with this solver. I remember MPPICFoam includes the parcel's volume in the solver. But I dont know if you need to consider the paricles volume when initializing.

BTW, could u please share some knowledge about the initialization?

Best,
