twoPhaseEulerFoam, abnormally high velocities cause stability issues
Hello all,
I am trying to simulate a bench size fluidized bed with immersed cylinders. The domain is 2D, the overall dimensions are 58x26 cm. I attached an image with the domain visualized in paraview. I created the mesh with gmesh and used the gmshtofoam utility, which worked without a problem. There are two phases a solid and gas. Gas inlet velocity is set to 13 cm/s. The case runs well for a very coarse mesh (up to ~60s which is what I need), however for the finer mesh that I need to use, the simulation crashes around 15 seconds in. The results show abnormally high gas and solid velocities (>40m/s) in a region near the outlet (top of the domain). I have tried different time discretization schemes but nothing seems to work. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? or has any ideas on what could be causing the issue? Thanks, Luis |
