Fan in buoyantPimpleFoam

Greetings Foamers!

A quick question to see whether I'm barking up the wrong tree: I'd like to model fan driven mixing of flow over a heating element. I am using the cyclic fan BC a-la the TJunctionFan tutorial.

I have used -- successfully in isolation -- pimpleFoam with a fan in the correct place in the geometry and also buoyantPimpleFoam on the same geometry to model the buoyancy driven convection. Both work reasonable well.

I have been unable to get the fan to work in buoyantPimpleFoam. Is it possible to do this, or is this not an available approach?

I will add further details as requested when I get home.

Thanks in advance

Tom

Hello Tom,

I am actually trying to do the same. I am solving using buoyantPimpleFoam and I want to apply a fan cyclic BC at the inlet and outlet to induce a pressure jump. I was wondering if you have had any developments for this since your posted.

Regards,
Amir

Hello Tom,

I attempted the same "fan" BC for use in buoyantPimpleFoam in OpenFOAM 3.0.1. However, it did not work. Alternatively I tried the "fixedJump" BC for this solver and it worked properly. Please mind that I have this cyclic condition at my cyclic inlet and outlet BC.

Regards,
Amir
